Another one of my favorite finds is my Yoga for the Rest of Us DVD. I discovered it on our local PBS channel when I TiVoed the show that gave a preview of it. I realized that after trying many yoga tapes and classes over the years, I had finally found what I had been looking for – a yoga routine I can do! I love yoga and have been frustrated by my desire to get its benefits but not being physically able to do the moves that are frequently used. I particularly have had trouble with moves that put weight on my hands or require holding up my arms. I have been interested in modified poses but they tend to be the exception in most classes and tapes.
Yoga for the Rest of Us uses modified poses as the standard. It makes it so easy and comfortable! I use the 20-minute warm up section most often which is done entirely while sitting in a chair. The DVD makes it easy to select that section. Then I have the option to continue to the next sections depending on my time and how my body is doing that day. If you have a chronic condition, you probably know what I mean. I have measured my success by how many good days vs. bad days. I’ve been fortunate to have far fewer bad days over the past couple of years. The Yoga for the Rest of Us DVD is another inexpensive option ($20) that lets me do something healthy for my body at home and that can fit into a busy schedule.
