Taking Time to Move
It has been a while since I have shared any new “Healing Finds” so I’m happy to report that I have a new one. I’m always on the look out for small ways to integrate more movement into my day. I have a 20 minute yoga routine that I sometimes do in the morning. However, I have been dismayed at how many times I felt that I didn’t have 20 minutes to spare! I knew there was a Qi Gong DVD that I’ve been meaning to purchase so I headed to the website to finally order it. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the new DVD available called “7 Minutes of Magic: AM & PM Routines.” I immediately liked the description of a blend of Qi Gong and Yoga and was excited to have a quick option in the morning, so I decided to order it. I received it a few days ago and so far I’m very happy with it. Not only does it provide two routines to use during the day, but it includes different versions of them. There is an extended version to use when you first start that includes additional instruction. The regular version also has a “Music Only” option which provides minimal instruction when you no longer need it. There is also an extra “easy” version to use in the morning if you find the standard one challenging. I decided to start with the easy one, but plan to try the extended AM soon.
I also happened to watch an episode of the daily New Morning show when yoga instructor, Terri Kennedy, demonstrated the Sun Breath. I really liked it and plan to use it as a quick break throughout the day. While I’m focused on integrating small moments of movement into my days, it is part of my overall goal of becoming the active, healthy person I’ve been dreaming of being for a long time. When I started receiving the Title Nine catalog, I began to visualize that one day I would be the kind of woman who is depicted in these pages. I don’t generally think of a clothing catalog as being part of a positive concept for a woman’s body image, but in this case the women are strong and physically active. Fitness is an integral part of their life. It’s the type of image I hold in my mind as I work towards losing weight. By the way, I’m currently celebrating my first 10 lbs lost 🙂
Bravo!
